This is the plan. If I ever write a suspense novel about a California State Park – the story will be set in Montana del Oro (Mountain of Gold) – because this was a beautiful, fascinating place with some spooky story-worthy features.
First there is the tree-lined road that leads to the beach. Once someone’s private property, the landowner planted eucalyptus trees, thinking he would make money in the lumber market. Alas, you don’t make money from eucalyptus trees – and now, as part of the park, they frame the road, forming eerie pictures of misshaped vines and branches. The wild turkeys strutting around and the signs warning of rattle snakes, put the finishing touches on the scene – as did Bloody Nose Trail (so poetic sounding). We saw the deer just outside of the park.
